Today kicks off our Habitat for Humanity International Women Build Week. We are grateful for the support from Lowe’s of this program, since 2008. Lowe’s has committed over $7.1 million dollars in support of the nonprofit, impacting families worldwide. So in honor of Women Build week we are showing you a video of some simple DIY projects you can do in your own home for less.
A safe home. Nutritious food. Health care. Access to good schools. Reliable transportation. Which would you choose? One in 6 U.S. families are forced to make this decision every day, often paying more than half of their income on rent or a mortgage. In 2021 our McLeod County profile reveals that more than 3,400 families in McLeod County pay more than 30 percent of their income toward housing cost, putting them at risk of being unable to afford basic needs like food and medicine. This is unacceptable. Please join us to help in our efforts provide families safe, decent and affordable homes. Now more than ever, we must work together to make the #CostOFHome something we all can afford.
We have decided that we will not hold our Annual Hammer & Nails Fundraiser this year due to the COVID virus. We look forward to hosting this event in the Spring of 2021.
